"Excessive weight gain that leads to obesity is quite common after kidney transplantation. This is often attributed to immunosuppression," investigators in Bursa, Turkey report.

"The aim of this retrospective study was to assess the effect of calcineurin inhibitors on post-transplant weight gain. A total of 99 patients were studied. The patients were divided into cyclosporine A (CyA) and tacrolimus (Tac) groups and were evaluated for weight changes and risk factors related to weight gain.
