According to recent research published in the European Journal of Heart Failure, "Weight reduction programmes in morbidly obese, diabetic, and hyperlipidaemic subjects usually improve cardiac load and subsequently reverse hypertrophy. However, their effect on contractile dysfunction and impaired cardiac functional reserve is unknown."
