Data from J.E. Chebli and colleagues advance knowledge in morbid obesity

According to recent research from the United States, "There is a worldwide epidemic of obesity. Medical evidence clearly demonstrates that the only effective treatment for morbid obesity is bariatric surgery."

"There are four major surgical treatments for morbid obesity: laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic gastric bypass, and laparoscopic duodenal switch. There is much recent interest in obesity as a disease of metabolism," wrote J.E. Chebli and colleagues.
