Findings from Radboud University, Department of Radiology broaden understanding of obesity and diabetes

Current study results from the report, 'Magnetic resonance spectroscopy shows an inverse correlation between intramyocellular lipid content in human calf muscle and local glycogen synthesis rate,' have been published. "Intramyocellular lipid (IMCL) content of skeletal muscle, as measured with (1)H MRS, is inversely correlated with insulin sensitivity as determined by whole body glucose uptake. The latter, however, does not necessarily represent the actual glucose uptake in the corresponding skeletal muscle," scientists in Nijmegen, Netherlands report.
