Lowered Neutrophil Activity May Provide Pregnancy-Related Arthritis Relief

Decreased immune activity by neutrophils may explain why pregnant women experience a temporary remission of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). I.P. Crocker and colleagues at the University of Nottingham in England undertook a "longitudinal investigation of neutrophil activity" in nine healthy pregnant women, nine pregnant patients with RA, 12 age-matched, non-pregnant RA patients, and 22 healthy subjects serving as controls.
