Aerosolized Cannabinoids Feasible and Effective

Delta(9)-THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, can be produced in an aerosolized form suitable for medical delivery as an analgesic, according to researchers writing in the European Journal of Pharmacology.

Virginia Commonwealth University researchers A.H. Lichtman and colleagues conducted a study of the compound with two aims in mind:

  • to develop and characterize the physical properties of an aerosolized form of ag-tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta(9)-THC)

  • to assess the pharmacological effects of cannabinoid inhalation in mice
