Leflunomide Safe and Effective for Treatment

Leflunomide, a novel antirheumatic drug, shows promise for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), particularly in conjunction with other drugs, report physicians with the Denver Arthritis Clinic in Colorado. "Leflunomide is a new disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) that inhibits lymphocyte proliferation by blocking dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH), the enzyme critical for the production of pyrimidine necessary for DNA synthesis," explained M.H.
