U.K., U. of L. announce results of study

Scientists from two state universities believe results of a joint research project will give them new insight into Alzheimer disease and how it erodes brain function.

The collaborative effort between University of Kentucky and University of Louisville researchers examined how certain proteins affect the behavior of cells, tissues and organs.

By studying how proteins behave in certain situations, researchers will gain a greater understanding of the way diseases like Alzheimer develop and help them create methods to treat them effectively, said Allan Butterfield, a University of Kentucky chemistry professor.
