Sicor wins ANDA approval for promethazine hydrochloride injection

Sicor, Inc., (SCRI) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Gensia Sicor Pharmaceuticals, Inc., received approval of an abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for Promethazine Hydrochloride Injection, USP.

Promethazine injection is indicated for the treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with certain types of anesthesia and surgery and as an adjunct to analgesics for the control of postoperative pain.

It is also used as a mild sedative and to treat some types of allergic reactions.
