Drug has properties that identify it as an unusual, potentially, unstable opioid

According to a study from the United States, "Methadone has numerous advantages as an analgesic, which have supported its recent increase in use," stated S.M. Fishman and coauthors, University of California - Davis, Division of Pain Medicine.

"However, methadone also has a pharmacological profile as an opioid that differentiates it from other, better known or more widely used opioids."
