Half of patients with musculoskeletal pain in Europe not treated for it

Half of patients with musculoskeletal pain across Europe are not being treated for it, suggests a wide-ranging European survey.

Around 100 million Europeans live with chronic pain as a result of a musculoskeletal condition.

The findings are based on telephone interviews with almost 6000 people with musculoskeletal pain and almost 1500 family doctors from eight European countries. All the participants were randomly selected.

Participating countries included the U.K., France, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Sweden, Italy, and Switzerland. The study was published in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases.
