Researchers from University of Chile, Faculty of Sciences detail new studies and findings in the area of life sciences

Current study results from the report, 'Tau phosphorylation by cdk5 and Fyn in response to amyloid peptide Abeta (25-35): involvement of lipid rafts,' have been published. "Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by the accumulation of protein filaments, namely extracellular amyloid-beta (Abeta) fibrils and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles, which are composed of aggregated hyperphosphorylated tau. Tau hyperphosphorylation is the product of deregulated Ser/Thr kinases such as cdk5 and GSK3beta," scientists in Santiago, Chile report.
