2011 FEB 14 -- Researchers detail in 'Beyond age and gender: relationships between cortical and subcortical brain volume and cognitive-motor abilities in school-age children,' new data in Central Nervous System. According to recent research published in the journal Neuroimage, "There is growing evidence that cognitive and motor functions are interrelated and may rely on the development of the same cortical and subcortical neural structures. However, no study to date has examined the relationships between brain volume, cognitive ability, and motor ability in typically developing children."
