DTC voluntary Guiding Principles receive association board preliminary approval

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America's (PhRMA) board of directors recently gave preliminary approval to a set of comprehensive "Guiding Principles" on direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising of prescription medicines. "Direct-to-consumer advertising can be vitally important to patient education, increasing awareness of diseases and motivating patients to contact their physicians.
