Reports advance knowledge in cancer therapy research

Reports from the United States and People's Republic of China highlight recent research on cancer therapy. Study 1: Investigators claimed ubiquitin-like protein containing PHD and RING domains 1 (UHRF1) is required in tumor cell proliferation. "Early cellular events associated with tumorigenesis often include loss of cell cycle checkpoints or alteration in growth signaling pathways. Identification of novel genes involved in cellular proliferation may lead to new classes of cancer therapeutics," scientists in the United States reported.
