P wave separation reported after atrial compartment operation

An unusual P wave separation after atrial compartment surgery has been reported.

"Surgically induced abnormalities in atrial conduction could result in unusual P wave changes," cardiologists in Taiwan noted.

In a case described by H.M. Lo and colleagues at Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital in Taipei, a "31-year-old woman underwent concomitant mitral valve surgery and atrial compartment operation for mitral stenosis and atrial fibrillation (AF)."
