Research on adverse drug reactions discussed by scientists at Linkoping University

"To determine the incidence of fatal adverse drug reactions (FADRs) in a Swedish population. Every seventh randomly selected deceased in three counties in South-east Sweden during 1 January 2001-31 December 2001 was identified in the Cause of Death Register," scientists in Sweden report.

"Relevant case records (hospitals and/or primary care centres and medicolegal files) were reviewed to identify suspected drug-related fatalities. Of 1574 deceased study subjects, 49 (3.1%; 95% CI 2.2%, 4.0%) were suspected to have died from FADRs.
