Settlement Reached in Dispute Over Attorney Referral Fee

Philadelphia plaintiff's Attorney Donald F. Manchel, Esq., has filed more than a thousand complaints over the past 45 years, but none was more agonizing than the one he brought on his own behalf against two fellow members of the bar. Manchel, in Donald F. Manchel and Associates v. Stephen Bruccoleri, Esq., and Salvatore LaRussa, Esq., EDPA No. 07--4452, argued that the two lawyers breached a standard, binding referral agreement. Manchel's firm was to receive as compensation for its efforts one-third of the ultimate fee in a personal injury case where Manchel was the original counsel representing the Plaintiffs.
