Lawsuit Filed in Death of Pigeon Man



July 6th, 2008

A wrongful death lawsuit was filed today in the Circuit Court of Cook County (2008 L 006541) on behalf of the Estate of Joseph Zeman. Mr. Zeman, 77, fondly known on the northside of Chicago as the Pigeon Man, was killed on December 18, 2007, when a car ran over him when he was walking in a crosswalk at 3349 West Devon, the entry to the shopping center there which is anchored by a Home Depot store.

The driver of the van was found guilty last Friday, June 13, 2008, in the Traffic Court of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Judge Ellen Flannigan, in a bench trial, found the driver guilty of failing to exercise due care to avoid striking a pedestrian, and guilty of driving...
