Teamsters Praise House for Voting to Ban Unsafe Mexican Trucks

Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa commended the 395 members of Congress who voted today to close the border to dangerous trucks from Mexico. The House of Representatives passed a bill to end the cross-border trucking program by a vote of 395 - 18. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., also prohibits the transportation secretary from granting authority to any Mexican trucks beyond the commercial zone, unless specifically authorized by Congress.
