Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Awarded $8.6 Million Grant Aimed to Keep Kids from Skipping School

The U.S. Department of Justice will award Big Brothers Big Sisters of America a $8,615,538 grant, which is administered through the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), to expand its truancy prevention initiative. "This grant will help us address an urgent need -- combating early signs of truancy, a gateway crime that too often leads to more serious offenses," said Judy Vredenburgh, president and CEO, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
