'Statue of Liberty' Mural Fines Could Exceed $50 Million, States Los Angeles City Attorney



February 8th, 2009

The following statement is being issued today by artist Mike McNeilly -

Councilman Jack Weiss, who represents West Los Angeles and Hollywood, stated the city should file charges against McNeilly. "People shouldn't be doing this. And the city attorney should go after them aggressively and throw the book at them," he said, according to David Zahniser in the Los Angeles Times, Jan. 1, 2009.

The City Attorneys office did just that. Documents filed January 13th with The United States District Court by the City Attorney's office have requested a $2,360,000 bond because of the anticipated civil penalties and criminal charges on the Liberty Murals might...
