Legion Calls Into Question Department of Health Motives; Governor Halts Efforts to Remove Items From Children's Home

Efforts by The Indiana State Department of Health to move forward with its plan to close the Knightstown Children Home ran into a roadblock Monday when Governor Mitch Daniels ordered a truckload of historic materials already removed from the home returned and a second pickup scheduled for Tuesday cancelled.

A spokesman for the governor assured The American Legion that the agency had been acting independently and the governor's office was unaware of any effort by the Health Department to begin removing property from the home.
