Lowey, Thompson, Jackson-Lee Introduce Expansion of Work Protections for Transportation Security Officers

Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-NY), Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), and Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection Subcommittee Chairwoman Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX) today introduced legislation that would grant Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) the same workplace protections that other federal employees enjoy. The Transportation Security Workforce Enhancement Act, H.R. 1881, would allow more than 42,000 TSOs and more than 50,000 total TSA employees to bargain collectively, to be compensated appropriately, and to be safe from whistleblower retaliation.
