Residents File Lawsuit Against Slum Landlord

Sewage and feces flood the apartments at 12105 South Vincennes. The building is infested with cockroaches and black mold. The infrastructure of the building is crumbling. The building is without heat. Recently, the City of Blue Island has declared the building "unfit for occupancy."

In response to the City's actions, the owners and building manager of the property have threatened to immediately deadbolt tenants' apartments, discard their belongings and have them arrested for trespassing in their own apartments. The landlord and building manager have not returned security deposits. The latest threat was made by property manager Chuk Okwuje. He has threatened to turn off...
