Hillenbrand Reports 21.6% Increase in Second-Quarter Earnings Per Share

Hillenbrand, Inc. (NYSE:HI) reported net income of $27.8 million, or $0.45 per fully diluted earnings per share, for the second quarter of 2009, which ended March 31, 2009. This was an increase over the same period in the prior year, with net income of $23.3 million, or $0.37 per fully diluted earnings per share, primarily as a result of the impact of separation costs in the second quarter of 2008. Excluding the impact of separation and antitrust litigation costs, net income of $28.6 million for the second quarter of 2009 declined 17.1 percent from $34.5 million in the prior year.
