New Life Settlement IRS Tax Rulings to Be Discussed in Webcast

Since the industry’s inception, questions on taxation of life settlement transactions for both purchasers and sellers of life insurance policies in the secondary market have been raised, with little guidance from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Last month, Senator Herb Kohl, chair of the United States Senate Special Committee on Aging, requested guidance on the tax treatment of life settlement transactions as part of his committee’s efforts.
