New MRG service helps hospitals, other healthcare organizations navigate immigration process to fill critical nursing shortages

The United States is in the midst of a nursing shortage that is expected to intensify as baby boomers age and the need for healthcare grows. Post-Katrina and -Ivan, shortages in nurses and other critical healthcare professions in Gulf Coast states spiked, adding to the burden of hospitals in the region.

One continuing trend in the region to address these shortages is recruiting nurses and other critical healthcare professionals from other countries, particularly English-speaking nations using U.S. curriculum. However, the immigration process is itself arduous for hospital officials to navigate.
