Biotechnology company granted key patent for furthering of cancer therapy

GlycoGenesys, Inc., (GLGS) announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued the company a U.S. Patent No. 6,680,306 "Method for Enhancing the Effectiveness of Cancer Therapies," covering the use of GCS-100 and other carbohydrates that bind to galectins prior to or in combination with chemotherapy or surgery for the treatment of cancer.
