Biotech company granted patents related to fluid sample device

American Bio Medica Corporation (ABMC) announced that the Canadian Intellectual Property Office has issued two patents to the company, Patent Number 2,181,775 for its device for the collection, testing and shipment of body fluid samples, and Patent Number 2,334,802 for its device for the testing of fluid samples and process for making the device.

Patent Number 2,181,775 covers a drugs-of-abuse testing kit that has a cup-like transparent container for retaining a fluid sample. Such container has a slit to receive a multiple drug test card having a plurality of immunoassay test strips with visual endpoints to indicate the presence or absence of a particular drug.
