Cancer research deal signed for development of VEGF-B

Amrad Corporation Limited (AML) and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (LICR) announced a strengthening of their collaboration for the development of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor B (VEGF-B) and associated intellectual property, which has potential applications in the treatment of cancer and cardiovascular disease.

VEGF-B is one of a family of molecules naturally produced by the body to regulate the growth of new blood vessels, a process called angiogenesis. VEGF-B has been shown in animal models to promote the growth of blood vessels in the heart and this activity may have applications in cardiovascular disease.
