Media coverage of prescription drug safety deters clinical trial participation

According to a nationwide survey by The Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) and Opinion Dynamics Corporation (ODC), 48% of survey respondents feel that they would be less likely to take part in a clinical trial given recent media coverage on the safety of certain prescription drugs and 4 out of 10 (41%) report feeling less likely to participate due to recent lawsuit judgments against a drug company.
Despite these new findings, the majority of respondents (67%) believe that clinical research studies are safe or somewhat safe which is virtually identical to numbers reported in the CISCRP/ODC December 2004 survey.
