Hospital funding debated in Wyoming

Wyoming hospitals won't get help with rising trauma and other catastrophic care costs for at least another year after funding for a compensation program was stripped from a bill February 17, 2004.

The Senate Appropriations Committee removed $10 million allocated for the program in Senate File 34 in favor of a cheaper study of the issue despite objections from at least one lawmaker.

"I think even one year of helping (hospitals) out while the fund answers questions to this issue would be beneficial," Senator Rae Lynn Job, D-Rock Springs, said.
