Company announces a new name for point-of-care blood-analysis system

International Technidyne, Inc., (ITC), a subsidiary of Thoratec, Inc., (THOR), announced a new name for its recently acquired IRMA blood analysis system.

The newly designated "IRMA TRUpoint" measures pH, blood gases, hematocrit, electrolytes, and other chemistries.

"The new name reflects the system's unique advantages," said Lawrence Cohen, president of ITC. "IRMA TRUpoint delivers immediate, accurate results at a patient's bedside - the true point of hospital care. It enables clinicians to make more timely diagnoses and treatment decisions, ultimately resulting in improved patient care."
