Hospital, couple settle privacy suit over HIV disclosure

Salem Hospital in Salem, Oregon, has settled a lawsuit filed by a couple who alleged that it was negligent when an employee publicly disclosed they were infected with HIV.

Attorneys for the hospital and the couple, listed only as "John and Jane Doe" in the complaint, reached the settlement the day a trial was set to begin in Marion County Circuit Court.

Neither side would comment about the terms of the confidential settlement.
