Quick, specific, nested VD2 PCR-RLB assay identifies C. trachomatis serovars

Pathologists in the Netherlands have developed a new technique for typing Chlamydia trachomatis serovars that they say is simple, rapid, and specific.

The new polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based typing assay, directed to the VD2 region of the omp1 gene, was developed to detect and type urogenital C. trachomatis infections, said M. Molano and colleagues at the PAMM Institute in Eindhoven.
