Washington representative says EPA is short on details of dredging plans

Representative John Sweeney, never a big fan of the government's Hudson River dredging project, accused the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) September 22, 2004, of ducking questions about work along the river.

Sweeney, R-Clifton Park, criticized EPA Administrator Michael Leavitt for failing to meet with him to discuss the project, adding Leavitt's written responses don't explain how the nighttime work will be done or how the agency will handle any complaints from residents.

The EPA is preparing a massive $500 million effort to remove PCB-contaminated sludge from the river by dredging north of Albany, then processing the sludge at "de-watering"...
