Swiss company wins award for cancer drug development

The hope of finding a new drug that could revolutionize cancer treatment must have had a broad appeal to the jury of the Swiss Technology Award. This became evident on February 19, 2004, when Apoxis was pronounced the winner of the Swiss Technology Award in Bern. The prize was given for Apoxis proprietary MegaLigand technology, an innovative technology, which generates recombinant proteins that kill cancer cells by apoptosis (programmed cell death).
