Antifungal agent derived from Streptomyces albidoflavus PU 23

A novel antifungal compound has been derived from a Streptomyces fungus. In a recent study from India, a total of "312 actinomycete strains were isolated from water and soil samples from different regions," and then "purified and screened for their antifungal activity against pathogenic fungi." "Out of these, 22% of the isolates exhibited activity against fungi," reported S.K. Augustine and coauthors at Abeda Inamdar Senior College.
