Federal health plan legislation may result in consumer protection losses

A new report from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, titled "Association Health Plans: No State Regulation Means Loss of Protections for Consumers, Small Employers and Providers," provides a comprehensive overview of key consumer protections in South Carolina that would be lost if federal Association Health Plan legislation is enacted by the U.S. Congress.

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to approve federal AHP soon, and two Senate committees are debating identical legislation.
