New clinical guidelines direct ED treatment

The American Urological Association (AUA) released the 2005 update of its clinical diagnosis and treatment guideline for erectile dysfunction (ED) to members and the press during its 100th Annual Scientific Meeting in San Antonio, Texas. Erectile dysfunction affects millions of men in the United States, and emerging treatments have allowed the condition to receive increasing treatment since the late 1990s. The AUA last published a clinical guideline on ED in 1996, prior to the FDA approval of the now-common phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors.
