Rifampicin-based salvage therapy not suitable for H. pylori eradication

Rifampicin-based salvage therapy is not suitable for Helicobacter pylori eradication in patients with peptic ulcer disease. "In vitro activity of rifampicin has been shown against Helicobacter pylori. It has also been reported that the prevalence of H. pylori is low in patients with tuberculosis treated with rifampicin. "Clinical trials are required to establish the efficacy of rifampicin as a salvage therapy for eradication of H. pylori. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of rifampicin-based salvage therapy for eradication of H. pylori in patients with peptic ulcer disease," investigators in India report. ...
