Surgeon speaks out in support of face transplant

Plastic surgeon Anthony Griffin spoke out in support of face transplant technology.

The first human transplant was recently performed in France, and many groups have questioned whether the procedure is ethical.

"What is not ethical about helping to restore a person's quality of life'" said Griffin, director of the Beverly Hills Cosmetic Surgery Institute and part of ABC's show Extreme Makeover. "Face Transplants are an outstanding part of the future of plastic surgery. We have the technology and we will use it, and it is absolutely ethical. However, the debate as to whether or not it is appropriate will continue to rage on."
