Investigators in the United States, Finland and United Kingdom have published new obstetrics data.

Study 1: Fetal birth weight may be affected by maternal periodontal disease in early pregnancy.

According to scientists in the United States, "The objective of the study was to determine whether periodontal disease is associated with delivery of a small-for-gestational-age infant. In a prospective study of oral health, periodontal disease was categorized as health, mild, or moderate/severe on the basis of clinical criteria.
