Healthcare facilities are increasingly reliant upon data networks and information storage technologies to manage, store and distribute critical patient data. Investments in sophisticated medical systems "are in turn exposing critical electronic loads and making them more susceptible to utility power abnormalities," resulting in end users reevaluating and reconfiguring their existing power infrastructure, according to a 2007 Frost and Sullivan report on the North American healthcare uninterruptible power supply (UPS) market.
