Richard E. Smith, M.D., Installed as President of Michigan State Medical Society

Richard E. Smith, M.D., an obstetrician/gynecologist at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, was installed as the 144th president of the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) on Saturday, April 25, at the annual MSMS House of Delegates meeting in Grand Rapids.

Doctor Smith, the first African American to serve as MSMS president, will serve a one-year term and act as spokesperson for 15,000-member medical society on state and national policy issues.
