Study 1: Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) correlates with angiogenesis factors in diabetic retinopathy.
Scientists in Japan conducted a study "to investigate the involvement of ACE with angiogenic factors, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 in the vitreous of eyes with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR)."
