Findings from Leiden University, Institute of Biology advance knowledge in antifungals

New research, 'Isolation and characterization of antagonistic Bacillus subtilis strains from the avocado rhizoplane displaying biocontrol activity,' is the subject of a report. According to recent research published in the Journal of Applied Microbiology, "This study was undertaken to isolate Bacillus subtilis strains with biological activity against soil-borne phytopathogenic fungi from the avocado rhizoplane. A collection of 905 bacterial isolates obtained from the rhizoplane of healthy avocado trees, contains 277 gram-positive isolates."
