Recent findings in SARS provide new insights

SARS research advances have been reported from the United States, People's Republic of China and Canada.

Study 1: The structure of the SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV) frameshift signal has been elucidated, and a possible therapeutic target has been identified.

"A wide range of RNA viruses use programmed -1 ribosomal frameshifting for the production of viral fusion proteins," scientists in the United States noted.
