Laser scanning microscopy is used to visualize ex vivo laryngeal epithelia

Laser scanning microscopy (LSM) could represent a new technology in laryngology for visualization of epithelial lesions.

According to recent research from Germany, "LSM supplies in vivo information from epithelia up to depths between 0.1 to 0.5 mm. The aim of this ex vivo prospective pilot study was to investigate the potential use of LSM for the diagnosis of laryngeal cancer and its precursors."
